Predictably enough I did indeed cough up for the Tom Petty documentary mentioned in the last post and I'm glad I did despite the hefty price tag. It really is a great documentary even though it falls into the primary trap of the genre in an overly positive treatment of its subject matter. Nonetheless the music is great for the most part and that's what really matters since more than anything I like documentaries/films like this as a way into the music of bands I like the look of and want to maybe get into. I'm particularly enjoying 'The Waiting' from 'Hard Promises', the fourth long player from the band at the moment. It's ranking extremely highly on the choohn-o-meter. There's no doubt but that I'm over listening to it but who cares, I'm loving the hell out of it so I might as well enjoy it while I can.
